Blue Distinction Centers for Cardiac Care by the Blue Cross and Blue Shield  |  Mercy General Hospital and Mercy San Juan Medical Center have been re-designated Blue Distinction Centers for Cardiac Care by the Blue Cross and Blue Shield companies for the second time. The national award recognizes the high volumes of cardiac patients treated at the hospitals by experienced physicians and staff who provide the full range of cardiac care.
 
Mercy General Hospital and Mercy San Juan Medical Center have been designated Blue Distinction Centers for Cardiac Care since 2006.
 
"Better Than Expected" Rating for CABG Surgeries  |  The Office of Statewide Health Planning and Development's (OSHPD) California Coronary Artery Bypass Graft (CABG) Outcomes Reporting Program (CCORP) rated Mercy General Hospital as one of only five California hospitals with a "Better Than Expected" rating for CABG surgeries in 2006.  The state-wide average for CABG mortality was 2.22%; Mercy General's CABG rate was considerably lower at 0.64%, which the report deemed was "significantly" safer than expected. Top 100 Hospital  |  Mercy General Hospital was named to Thomson Reuters' 100 Top Hospitals for Overall Care and Cardiac Care.  Mercy San Juan Medical Center was named Top 100 Hospital for Overall Care for two consecutive years. 
 
2008 & 2009 Premier Award for Quality  |  For two consecutive years, Premier healthcare alliance recognized Mercy General Hospital for their commitment to outstanding patient care and operational efficiency with the Premier Award for Quality (AFQ). The AFQ recognizes leading healthcare organizations that efficiently provide outstanding patient care and consistently set the standard in clinical excellence nationwide.
 
Society of Thoracic Surgeons' National Adult Cardiac Surgery Database Composite Quality Measure and STAR Rating System  |  Mercy General Hospital received the top "3 star" rating from the Society of Thoracic Surgeons for the quality of their cardiac surgery among hospitals across the country for 2008. In addition, Mercy San Juan Medical Center received a "2 star" rating.
 
Chest Pain Center with PCI Accreditation; from the Society of Chest Pain Centers  |  Mercy General Hospital is the only hospital in the greater Sacramento region accredited by the Society of Chest Pain Centers (SCPC) and is proud to join other leaders in heart attack care from across the nation with this distinction.
 
Heart Attack Care  |  Mercy General Hospital and Mercy San Juan Medical Center provide exceptional care for heart attack patients. Both hospitals exceed national targets set by the National Door to Balloon Alliance in improved time to perform emergency angioplasty in heart attack patients.
 
Gold Seal of Approval from the Joint Commission  |  The Joint Commission awarded Mercy Heart & Vascular Institute's CHAMP® and Heart Smart Programs the Gold Seal of Approval™.  Mercy General Hospital, Mercy San Juan Medical Center and Woodland Healthcare are also Primary Stroke Centers, certified by The Joint Commission.
 
Cardiac Rehabilitation Certification  |  The Cardiac Rehabilitation program at Mercy General Hospital is the only program in Sacramento certified by the American Association of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation (AACVPR).
